A Day to Explore

Written by: Riley Perron, Business

Today was our second day in Norway. We were all exhausted from the journey and could have taken the day to rest. Instead, the day was filled with lots of new opportunities to visit really cool places around the city as a group. We started off the day by meeting for breakfast in our hotel, which turned out to be what I think was the best buffet any of us have ever witnessed! We loaded up on food for the day and headed back to our rooms to freshen up and collect our belongings needed for a day of exploring the city. We took a walk toward downtown Oslo. We saw plenty of neat sights and architectural masterpieces along the way.

Many styles of architecture.

We stopped inside a sports store called XXL which was essentially a European version of Sportcheck. What my friend Kobe and I noticed is that the Helly Hansen brand was extremely popular over here, like the Lululemon version of Europe. After our stop, we headed to a beautiful downtown square area and we decided to split into a few small groups to venture around the city to discover what peaked our individual interests.

A few of us headed to the Oslo Opera House, which is one of the nicest buildings I had ever stepped inside of. The building was built over the edge of the water and has massive accessible ramps to climb all the way up to the top to give an amazing view of the city.

After that, some of us got hungry and decided to head to an Irish Pub called The Wild Rover to grab some lunch. After this, we all met up as a group at a local thrift shop called UCC, where we spent almost an hour finding European style thrifts, and it was very cool to compare the style of these stores to the ones in North America.

We then all enjoyed a delicious dinner together at Los Tacos. From there we decided to take the electric scooters for a trip around the city. We had a blast on those things. Finally to get a sense of the local scene, most of the group headed to one of the popular pubs called Salt Art. We enjoyed the sunset on a balcony over some great conversations and team bonding. Today was a blast!
